Resource Sharing

WNYLRC endorses and promotes regional resource sharing through a variety of activities—interlibrary loan,  InfoPassconsortial databases,  ports for WorldCat on FirstSearch and intiatives and pilot programs such as the WNYLRC-UB Illiad pilot and the Purchase-on-Demand program..

Interlibrary loan is the borrowing and loaning of materials from one library to another library to meet a patron’s needs.  Although routine patron requests are usually met by a library, no single library can own everything.  Therefore, having the capability to request materials from other libraries increases the patron’s access to information and regional resources.  WNYLRC aims to facilitate lending among members directly and remains committed to staying abreast of trends and advances in this area.
