Search and the 'Net @ 2009
Sponsored By:WNYLRC
Scanning today's Web search environment is both daunting and exhilarating. The "read-only" Web has evolved into a robust "read-write-look-listen-create" world. Consequently search engines and other services are constantly morphing to accommodate users' demands for quick, efficient access to this brave new Web. Come join Michael Hunter for the annual "State of the 'Net" hands-on session to update your search skills and resources.

We will:
*Explore the intersection of Web 2.0 and social search engines such as Wikiasari, Scour and others
*Discover Web 3.0 - what it is, where we can find it and what it can do for us
*Try out the best of the new search engines
*Take a long look at Google in 2008
*Survey recent developments at other major engines
*Look at possible future directions for Web search
