Digital Collections and Services
Through our ties to the Empire State Library Network, WNYLRC is involved with multiple technology initiatives. All Governing members are eligible to participate. Please get in touch with us for more information.
- Empire Archival Discovery Cooperative (Empire ADC) - a platform that houses electronic archival description finding aids (EADs).
- Empire State Immersive Experiences (ESIE) - Member libraries can experiment with augmented reality through participation in ESIE. Members can contribute content for educational and instructional purposes.
- New York Heritage (NYH) - New York Heritage Digital Collections features a broad range of materials that present a glimpse into our state's history and culture. Over 350 libraries, museums, archives, and other cultural institutions make their collections available in our repository. These primary source materials span the range of New York State's history, from the colonial era to the present. You can also find a collection of digital exhibits and supporting materials, ideal for classroom use and other educational settings. We also have physical traveling banner exhibits, created using content from statewide NYH collections, that members can borrow for display in your spaces. - New York State Historic Newspapers (NYSHN) - Newspapers that were initially part of New York Heritage were later moved to their own site, forming New York State Historic Newspapers.
Digital Services Participation
WNYLRC's Digital Services are open to our members, including assistance with digitization, access to the above platforms for hosting and display of collections, access to grant funding and resources, including yearly Access and Innovation Grants and other state and federal grant programs, and assistance with metadata setup and creation. Members should contact Sheryl Knab, Heidi Ziemer, or Jason Barone for further information about grants, funding, and digital services, and before starting a project for the above platforms.
